Mayor Compton Pays Up
What a year for Stanley Cup Playoffs. The final was no exception, and both Kenora and Winnipeg were keeping a close eye on the series, as both Mike Richards (Kenora) and Jonathan Toews (Winnipeg) had an epic battle for The Cup. Of course a friendly wager was necessary, which Kenora Mayor, Len Compton instigated. He bet Winnipeg Mayor, Sam Katz over the series. Loser to host winner for a day of fishing. Unfortunately for the Flyers, Kenora, and Mayor Compton, the fishing trip was now scheduled to be on Lake of the Woods, rather than some fishless Manitoba lake.
I was the lucky guide for the day that had the opportunity to host Sam, Len, Mike and Ava for a wonderful morning of fishing. The wind was up, which changed the fishing game plan up a bit, but fish were caught, with Ava bringing in the biggest! Shore lunch was ideal, with clear skies, a nice breeze and a scenic vantage point....and some fresh walleye and wild rice stir fry.
A big Thank You to both Mayor Compton and Mayor Katz for a very enjoyable and memorable day on the lake.
