It's Heating Up!
July is here! Happy Canada Day, soon to be the 4th, so a happy Independence Day for our neighbors to the south. The weather has warmed up nicely and water temps are anywhere from 66 to 71. Muskie have turned up the heat, so to speak as well. Have had decent success with the Musk's in bays or just off of rock piles. Warm water seems to be the key here. Walleyes.....they have me working for them. They are still in 7-12 feet shallow humps or points, but I have had some great days on the open water humps (20-27')....however, what was good yesterday, is not necessarily good today....that's why they call it fishing, not catching. :-)
Had some fishing cancelations, so I now have several days open in July from the 8th to the 17th available. They are going quickly, so if you would like a day on the lake whether it be fishing, shore lunch, exploring some historic sites, or just puttin' along, give me a shout. It is tough to beat a day on Lake of the Woods in July! It's the best time of the year for a trip to Sioux Narrows to visit one of Lake of the Wood's nicest beaches, or take a cruise down to Fort St. Charles, Oak Island, Massacre Island to take in some of The Lake's early history.
